Story highlights

This is not the first time yoga guru Baba Ramdev has voiced the sentiment. In November last year, Ramdev said people like him who never get married should be given 'special honours'.

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has (again) said that people who have more than two children should be denied voting rights. He said that "then only" will we able to control India's population growth.

"To control population of the country, voting rights, jobs and treatment facilities should be taken away from people who give birth to more than two kids and whether they are Hindu or Muslims. Then only the population will be controlled," ANI quoted Ramdev as saying.

Ramdev made his statement in Aligarh where he was inaugurating a Patanjali shop.

ANI quoted him as telling reporters that people with more than two children should not be allowed to contest elections, their children should be denied admission to government schools, they should not be allowed treatment at government hospitals, and they should be disallowed from taking government jobs.

This is not the first time Ramdev has voiced the sentiment. In November last year, Ramdev said people like him who never get married should be given "special honours".

"In this country, people like me, who never get married, should receive a special honour. Those who get married and produce more than two children should be denied voting rights," Ramdev had said.
