The Supreme Court today is all set to hear the bail plea of Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram, who is held under the CBI custody till August 26.

The plea was filed by Chidambaram challenging the Delhi High Court verdict of August 20 that dismissed his anticipatory bail plea in the INX Media case.

The CBI court on Thursday ordered 5-day custody for Chidambaram who is accused in the INX media case. 

During his remand with the CBI, Chidambaram will be allowed to meet with his lawyers and family members for 30 minutes every day.  

Meanwhile, Chidambaram's bail petition against the Enforcement Directorate will be heard by the Supreme Court on August 27.

The CBI court on Thursday began hearing the matter Chidambaram's bail plea at Rouse Avenue District Court in New Delhi. 

Chidambaram was arrested in the INX media case on Wednesday night after he failed to get relief from the Supreme Court over CBI and ED's pursuit of him as the matter was not heard by the court despite repeated efforts of his lawyers.

Chidambaram's arrest became an intense political drama as CBI officials had to climb the wall of his residence to get inside his home.
