The Supreme Court on Wednesday said that the Ayodhya case hearings must be completed by October 18.
The five-judge Constitution bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi said, "As per the estimate of tentative dates to finish the hearing in the case, we can say that the submissions have to be likely completed by October 18."
Gogoi further said that if the petitioners want, they can settle the dispute through mediation. The court also said daily hearings will continue in the case.

Last month, after the Supreme Court observed that the mediation panel on Ayodhya matter, failed to achieve any final settlement in the matter, then the court decided to hold a day-to-day hearing in the case.
Fourteen appeals are pending before the apex court against the 2010 Allahabad High Court verdict, which ordered equal division of the 2.77 acres disputed land in Ayodhya among the Sunni Waqf Board, the Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lalla.
The 16th century Babri Masjid was demolished on December 6, 1992.
