Delhi's Patiala House Court on Wednesday allowed Shashi Tharoor to travel abroad. The senior Congress leader has been directed to furnish a fixed deposit receipt of Rs 2 lakh. The deposit will be refunded to him on his return to the country, ANI reported. 

Tharoor was granted bail by a Delhi court on July 7 in the case. He was also directed to furnish a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh.

The Thiruvananthapuram MP was directed not to leave the country without permission. 

Delhi Police, on May 14, filed a charge sheet naming Tharoor as an accused under sections 306 (Abetment of suicide) and 498A (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Tharoor dismissed the charge sheet describing it as "preposterous".
