'Navjot ji has repeatedly said that Captain Sahab is like his father. We have always made it clear that Capt Sahab's respect and honour is above everything,' she told media.

Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu on Sunday spoke in defence of her husband and politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, stating that Sidhu's statements should be "read as a whole and not in incomplete bits." Navjot Kaur referred to her husband's 'Captain' remark.

"Navjot ji has repeatedly said that Captain Sahab is like his father. We have always made it clear that Capt Sahab's respect and honour is above everything. Sidhu's statements should be read as a whole and not in incomplete bits," she said.

Meanwhile, three Punjab ministers on Saturday called for Navjot Singh Sidhu's resignation from the state cabinet over his jibe at Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, a fallout of the controversial politician's recent trip to Kartarpur in Pakistan, news agency PTI reported.

Sidhu had mocked Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh when reporters asked him about going to Pakistan despite his disapproval.

"Rahul Gandhi is my captain. It is he who sent me to Pakistan. Rahul Gandhi is the captain of the captain (Amarinder Singh) also," Sidhu had said.
