Karnataka elections: Siddaramaiah to file nomination from second constituency on Tuesday

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will file his nomination from Badami constituency in north Karnataka on April 24 between 2-3 pm.

The leader has already filed his nomination from Chamundeshwari constituency in Mysore.

Siddaramaiah had expressed his desire to contest from Chamundeshwari, however, the party wanted him to contest from Badami constituency as well, reports suggest.

The Badami constituency has a strong presence of Kuruba community, which Siddaramaiah belongs to. 

He had said earlier that he would leave the decision of contesting from two constituencies on senior party leaders. 

The party, in its list of candidates contesting for the polls, had named Dr Devraj Patil as a nominee from Baduni. However, the party had put a hold on his B-form. In its final list of candidates, the party had replaced the name of Dr Patil with that of Siddaramaiah.

His desire to contest from two constituencies was not appreciated by veteran party leaders Mallikarjuna Kharge and Veerappa Moily.

Siddaramaiah had been representing Varuna constituency in Mysore since 2008. He later gave up the constituency for his son Dr Yatindra.

He won five times from Chamundeshwari and was defeated twice from the seat.
