Shri Aurobindo was dedicated to good of nation and humanity: Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Shri Aurobindo as a man of action, a philosopher, a poet. There were so many facets to his character and each of them was dedicated to the good of the nation and humanity, he sáid.
Modi was speaking at the golden jubilee celebrations of Auroville International township. It is important today to remember the vast extent of action and thought of Shri Aurobindo, he told the gathering.
Auroville brought together men, women, young, old, cutting across boundaries and identities, he said and added Auroville’s Charter was handwritten in French by Divine Mother herself.
The Mother set five high principles for Auroville, he added.

India has always allowed mutual respect and co-existence of different religions and cultures.
Modi went on to add that India is home to the age-old tradition of Gurukul, where learning isn't confined to classrooms. ''Auroville too has developed as a place of un-ending and life-long education: PM in #Puducherry
On his maiden visit to Puducherry after assuming office, Modi is expected to visit the room where Aurobindo carried out his spiritual experiments, sources in the Ashram said.
Later, the Prime Minister would interact with children of Sri Aurobindo International School of Education and then proceed to Auroville by road to participate in its golden jubilee celebrations.
Modi will also address a public meeting organised by BJP's local unit later in the day.
