Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Bangladesh to host 100th ODI in shortest time
Follow UsThe Sri Lanka-Zimbabwe game on 17 January will mark the 100th one-day international played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur in the shortest time.
It has reached the milestone after almost eleven years of one-day internationals (ODI) held in the stadium which had its first ODI on December 8, 2006, between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe while hosting a crowd of 25,000 people.
The Shere Bangla National Stadium, which is Bangladesh's "Home of Cricket" smoothly took over the hyped and celebrated Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) in a short span of time.
A total of 98 ODI's have been played in the stadium in which the Tigers themselves have played in 82; winning 38, losing 43 and one no result.
The five other stadiums - Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sydney Cricket Ground, Melbourne Cricket Ground, Harare Sports Club and Colombo’s R.Premadasa Stadium - have already reached the landmark but it took them longer than 11 years.
The venue hosted matches of the world events during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, ICC World Twenty20 2104 and the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2016.
