Sharad Pawar, the chief of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi today in parliament to discuss the issue of Maharashtra farmers.

The meeting between both the leaders will begin at 12 noon, the news agency ANI reported.

NCP leader Nawab Malik said, "In Maharashtra, farmers have faced huge damage due to unseasonable rains. Pawar will demand relief package for the farmers from the Prime Minister".

Farmers in the state have suffered heavy losses due to ongoing heavy rain, especially in Nashik and nearby areas.

On November 15, Pawar promised to speak to the central government and the concerned ministers to assist the farmers.

He also took notice of crop losses in the area due to unseasonal rain and directed government officials in the district to conduct surveys of the destroyed crops.
