Seven Naxals were killed in an encounter with the security forces in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Friday.

Earlier Maharashtra police had killed 37 Naxals in the Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra.

The increasing number of encounters is the outcome of the ongoing anti-Maoists operation in the red corridor region.

On Thursday sixty Maoists including 13 minors and 20 females surrendered before the Chhattisgarh police at restive Narayanpur district of Bastar.

Each of the Naxals surrendered will be entitled to an incentive amount of Rs 10,000 and rehabilitation package of the state government, the police said.
