'Padmaavat' protests: Section 144 imposed in Noida for 2 months

Section 144 was imposed in Noida Tuesday for two months. 

The announcement was made by the Upper District Magistrate who said the order was passed keeping in mind the several protests being organised in the district. 

There have been a number of protests in UP -- and other parts of the country -- against the movie Padmaavat, which is scheduled for release on January 25. A protest against the movie was held recently in Lucknow, with plans being made to take the protest across the state. 

The magistrate added that Section 144 -- prohibiting the assembly of more than four people -- had also been imposed in view of the upcoming CBSE and ICSE board examinations, and the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.
