Rahul Gandhi equates RSS to Muslim Brotherhood in UK address

Congress President Rahul Gandhi made yet another provocative attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during his overseas tour, this time equating the right-wing group to the Muslim Brotherhood while addressing students in London on Friday.

Speaking at the International Institute of Strategic Studies in London, Gandhi said RSS was trying to change the nature of India. There is no other organisation in India that wants to capture India's institutions, he added.

"RSS is trying to change the nature of India. There is no other organisation in India that wants to capture India's institutions. RSS' idea is similar to the idea of Muslim Brotherhood in Arab world," Rahul Gandhi said at the International Institute of Strategic Studies in London.

The Muslim Brotherhood is a Sunni Islamist organisation founded in Egypt and is considered to be a terror outfit by Russia and six west Asian nations.

While Congress party binds the people of India, the BJP-RSS divides them and spreads hatred, Rahul said.

Stating that the West did not believe in India in 1947, Rahul Gandhi said but India proved the West wrong. ''What allowed us to succeed is that thousands of people built the institutions, and these are the institutions that are being attacked today,'' Rahul said. 

The Gandhi scion also attacked the Modi government saying that they lacked a coherent strategy in dealing with Pakistan.

Modi government ''lacks a coherent strategy'' in dealing with Pakistan, he said even as he accused the neighbouring country of spreading terrorism in India.

Commenting on the Doklam standoff with China, Gandhi said the row was not an isolated issue but part of a sequence of events. “Prime Minister [Narendra Modi] is episodic. He views Doklam as an event. If he was carefully watching the process, he could’ve stopped it. The truth is the Chinese are still in Doklam today,” he said.
