'Reform to transform' this is our guiding principle, says PM Modi to PIOs

The government hosted the first ever Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) Parliamentary Conference meeting in New Delhi. 

Addressing person's of Indian origin(PIO) in New Delhi today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India was transforming and moving ahead.

"The 21st century is being considered the Asian century & India will be a major player in this," Modi said during his speech. 

The government hosted the first ever Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) Parliamentary Conference meeting in New Delhi. Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is celebrated on January 9 to acknowledge the contribution made by the Indian overseas community toward the development of the country. 

The meeting was attended by 124 members of Parliament and 17 mayors from 23 countries including external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, Rajya Sabha deputy chairman P.J. Kurien, Lok Sabha deputy chairman Thambidurai and Union ministers V.K. Singh and M.J. Akbar.

"We have introduced far-reaching reforms. 'Reform to transform' this is our guiding principle," the PM said. 

"More than half the investment in sectors like construction, air transport, mining, computer software, hardware, electrical equipment and many others, till now has happened in the last three years," the prime minister added.
