Rahul Gandhi to address farmers' protest on June 6 in Mandsaur, MP

A day after farmers across the country initiated a 10-day nationwide protest, Congress president Rahul Gandhi has decided to join the protest on June 6.

He took to Twitter and announced on Saturday, " About thirty-five farmers commit suicide in our country every day. The farmers are forced to stage a protest for 10 days to bring the issue of agricultural crisis to the centre's notice. I will address the farmers rally in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh on June 6 to participate in the farmers' fight".

Gandhi will address the farmers in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh on the anniversary of the death of seven farmers in police firing in the state.

Farmers across the country said Friday that they had begun a 10-day nationwide strike and they would not sell their produce in cities. 

The strike was organised by farmers from Punjab and Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala demanding a waiver of their loans, the right price for their produce and the implementation of the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission,

The farmers' body will also orgainse a "Bharat Bandh" on June 10.
