According to reports, former RBI Governor, Raghuram Rajan, has been listed as one of the possible contenders for a top job at the Bank of England (BoE).

According to UK-based Financial Times, UK Chancellor and Exchequer Philip Hammond has started the process of selecting the next Governor of the Bank of England. If selected, Rajan will replace the current Governor, Mark Carney, next year.

According to the report, Mr Hammond's has shown an interest in looking abroad for Carney's successor as the UK prepares for Brexit.

Rajan currently teaches Finance at the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business. He served as the RBI Governor for three years, September 2013 to 2016.

Rajan was also the youngest Chief Economist and Director of Research at the International Monetary Fund.

Indian-origin Baroness Shriti Vadera could also be a candidate for the post.
