Three people have been reported dead after an assistant sub-inspector of India Reserve Battalion (IRB) opens fire.

According to police, Shinde opened fire at two different places - Nagar Mori and Borawake Nagar --- in Daund.

Amol Jadhav, Gopal Shinde and Anil Jadhav lost their lives in the firing.

One of the deceased was a close relative of the suspect, a police official said.

Shinde is now believed to be hiding at his residence.

Shindey, posted at the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) camp, belongs to India Reserve Battalion, Kolhapur -- a part of SRPF.

"SRPF companies and additional force from Pune were summoned to control the law and order situation," a police officer noted.

In a similar incident, a CRPF jawan allegedly shot dead four of his fellow troopers in Chattisgarh last month.

The mishap followed a brawl at Basaguda camp of the CRPF’s 168 battalion stationed at Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district.
