<p>Protests against director Sanjay Leela Bhansali&rsquo;s period drama Padmaavat turned violent on Tuesday after a group of people vandalised a multiplex in Gujarat&#39;s Ahmedabad.</p>

<p>The accused are believed to be members of Karni Sena.</p>

<p>Based on Malik Muhammad Jayasi&rsquo;s epic poem Padmavat, the movie is set to release on January 25.</p>

<p>Padmaavat, starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor has repeatedly faced trouble from fringe groups, who allege that the movie is distorting &ldquo;historical facts&rdquo; and fear that the movie features a love scene between Khilji (played by Ranveer Singh) and Rani Padmini (Deepika Padukone) as a dream sequence.</p>
