Gandhi, who turned 49 today will meet Congress leaders at the party headquarters later in the day.
Yesterday, after Rahul Gandhi refused to take up the post, Member of Parliament from Baharampur Lok Sabha seat of West Bengal, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, was named party chief in Lok Sabha.
Gandhi-led Congress saw a humiliating defeat against PM Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the recently held general elections. Though, Gandhi won by 4,31,063 votes against his nearest rival Left Democratic Front (LDF)'s PP Suneer in Wayanad constituency.
