'Padmaavat' row: Harish Salve gets threating calls

Senior lawyer and representative of "Padmaavat" producers in supreme court Harish Salve said that he received threatening calls on Friday.

The Delhi Police have registered a police complaint against unknown persons for threatening Salve, ANI reported.

Security has been beefed up at Salve's office following the incident. Salve said that he received a threatening call from a person who identified himself as a member of Karni Sena.

On Thursday Supreme Court ruled in Padmaavat's favour and said that the movie cannot be banned in India after it received a certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The apex court decision resulted in Karni Sena vandalising a cinema hall in Bihar. 

Earlier banned in four states, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Haryana, "Padmaavat" producers filed a petition in Supreme court to challenge the ban.

Several fringe groups in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh are continuing their protest against the film and are threatening to halt its release.
