Over 11,000 pilgrims complete 'darshan', another batch leaves for Amarnath cave shrine

Over 11,000 pilgrims have completed the darshan and another batch of 4,694 yatris left for the Amarnath cave shrine on Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile over 15 pilgrims, on their way to Baltal Axis, were administered Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel after they felt breathlessness.

Authorities have made tight security arrangements for the safety of pilgrims. Last week, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a review meeting on security arrangements for the yatra. State Governor Satyapal Malik also was also present in the review meeting.
Before the Home Minister`s visit, Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh visited units deployed for security of Amarnath yatra and reviewed the security arrangements on both the axis of Baltal and Pahalgam.
The 46-day long Amarnath Yatra started on July 1 and will conclude on August 15, the day of Shravan Purnima. Situated at an altitude of 3,888 m, the Amarnath cave is considered as one of the holiest shrines for Hindus
The cave shrine situated at 3,888 metres above the sea-level in Kashmir Himalayas houses an ice stalagmite structure that symbolises mythical powers of Lord Shiva, according to the devotees.
