On Labour Day, India, China troops meet at the border, exchange sweets

On International Labour Day, Indian and Chinese troops held a special border personnel meeting at the Chusul-Moldo meeting point in eastern Ladakh.

Indicating an upward trend in relations between the two sides, post-Doklam, troops and families of both armies took part in celebrations. 

According to an official statement, the meeting was organised to "build trust between the two armies deployed at the border."

India and Chinese troops also exchanged sweets at Wacha border post in Arunachal Pradesh.

PM Modi had met President Xi last week in Wuhan last week with both leaders agreeing to engage in "strategic guidance" for both armies at the tense border area where India and China were involved in a 73-day standoff at Doklam.

Border meeting between the Indian Army and the People's Liberation Army(PLA) is usually held on important dates, for example, PLA Day, 26th January and 15th August.

A similar function was held along the LAC on India's Republic Day this year and on Independence Day in August last year.
