No money was spent on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's fitness video, Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said Monday.

Rathore was replying to a Shashi Tharoor tweet in which the former minister of state for external affairs said Rs 20 crore were spent on ads for Yoga Day, and Rs 35 lakh on Modi's fitness video.

Tharoor attached a news report to his tweet which had originally made the Rs 35 lakh claim.

"Not surprised Mr @ShashiTharoor, falsehoods is ur substitute 4 facts," Rathore replied on Twitter.

"No money ws spent 4 PM’s fitness vid. It ws recorded by PMO videographer. This article is based on 'solid proof' of hearsay," he added.

Modi's fitness video — in which he can be seen meditating and doing yoga — was released in June. The video came after Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli threw him a fitness challenge.

Modi in turn tagged Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy in his video.

Kumaraswamy replied that while he supported physical fitness, he was more concerned about the development of his state.
