The Trump administration has drawn a hard line in trade talks with China, demanding a $200 billion cut in the Chinese trade surplus with the United States, sharply lower tariffs and advanced technology subsidies, people familiar with the talks said on Friday.

An encounter between terrorists and the armed forces is currently underway in Srinagar. The encounter is taking place in the Chattabal area of the Jammu and Kashmir capital where one-two terrorists are holed up inside a house.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in will meet his American counterpart President Donald Trump at the White House on May 22. Both the leaders are likely to discuss the upcoming summit between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, the White House stated on Friday.

A US man accused of killing India engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla last year has been sentenced to life in prison. US Navy veteran Adam Purinton pleaded guilty in March of killing Srinivas in a racially motivated hate crime at a bar in Kansas city last year. 

Israel has withdrawn from a race for a seat on the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member. According to a press statement by the Israeli mission to the United Nations, the State of Israel decided to postpone its candidacy for a seat on the UNSC after consulting its "partners and good friends".
