Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has said the state is just like any other, and that there is "no massacre going on at this time".
He added that "the number of murders witnessed in Patna in a single day is equal to deaths in Kashmir in a week".

2018 was one of the bloodiest years in Kashmir in recent times, with terrorist, civilian, and security force casualties all going up. That was a result of the security forces' iron hand approach to militant attacks.
Malik also added that "stone pelting and recruitment to terrorist groups has stopped".
It should however be remembered that both stone pelting and terror attacks always drop sharply in the winters because of the plummeting temperatures in Jammu and Kashmir.
