Story highlights

The fire brigade investigation report had revealed that the fire originated from the charcoal embers used for hookah smoking in Mojo's Bistro and then spread to the 1 Above pub on the floor above

Yug Pathak, one of the co-owners of the Mojo's Bistro restaurant from where the deadly Kamala Mills fire is believed to have originated was on Sunday sent to police custody till January 12.

The fire brigade investigation report had revealed that the fire originated from the charcoal embers used for hookah smoking in Mojo's Bistro and then spread to the 1 Above pub on the floor above.

Yug Pathak was arrested yesterday after he was named accused in the original First Information Report of the incident.

The fire department report is in contrast to earlier reports that indicated that the fire started at 1 Above.

The management of 1-Above had previously claimed that they are being "targeted" and had blamed Mojo's Bistro for not having an emergency exit, leading to overcrowding of the escape avenues at 1 Above.

The police had last week arrested the managers of 1 Above and issued a lookout notice against the owners of the restaurant, the Sanghvi brothers.

The Mumbai police on Saturday registered an FIR against the owners of Mojo Bistro and 1 Above pubs for alleged illegal construction.

The deadly fire at Kamala Mills complex on December 28 claimed 14 lives and left 21 injured.
