The Mumbai Police's Economic Offences Wing registered a case against a Bandra-based builder Sameer Bhojwani on Wednesday, after a complaint from actor Dilip Kumar's wife Saira Banu. The actress accused the builder of cheating her and forging the property documents of their bungalow.

In December 2017, Banu had claimed that the developer was harassing and threatening her and Kumar, over a property in Pali Hill, Bandra (west).

Saira Banu had complained that the builder was trying to illegally occupy Dilip Kumar's property in Bandra. She also said that they were repeatedly harassed by the builder in connection with the case.

Recently, she had written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in which she accused the city builder of threatening them to take over the family's house.

"We are investigating the case thoroughly and action will be taken accordingly," Deputy Commissioner of Police (EOW) Parag Manere said.

As per the complaint, the legendary actor had bought both the properties in 1953 for Rs 1.40 lakh, another police official said.
