Minority leaders endorse PM Modi's statement

A group of minority leaders from different walks of life have endorsed the statement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 26. Prime Minister had said: "The way poor have been cheated, minorities have been deceived in the same way. It would have been good their education, their health had been in focus. Minorities have been made to live in the fear of those who believed in vote bank politics. I expect from you in 2019 that you would be able to make a hole in that deception. We have to earn their trust." 

The minority community leaders in a letter dated 3.6.2019 endorsed the statement of the Prime Minister and said that they are committed to the initiatives announced by PM Modi.

The minority community leaders also thanked the prime minister for making a point to mention that the freedom struggle of 1857 was a common endeavour of all communities. The community leaders also wrote in the letter that skill development, education, healthcare and protection under law from hooligans as their top priority. The letter stated that education and health are two sectors which are crucial to bring minorities in the mainstream and to make them fully productive in order to realise the dream of turning India into the third largest economy in the world.
 
The letter states,"Sir, we are a group of concerned citizens who have contributed in educational, social and cultural development of the community and country. We assure you of our utmost cooperation in the fulfilment of the above goals and we offer our profound services to enable your honour to take the community into confidence for suitable measures you may propose to take on above suggestions. We are respectfully offering to interact with your honour from time to time as per your convenience."

The letter has been signed by eighteen eminent personalities from the minority community including Mehmood Madani, general secretary of Jamait Ulema-e-Hind. The outreach to Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumes significance as the Opposition has been campaigning on the line that BJP will never be able to bridge the trust deficit between them and the minority communities.
