Mevani supporters arrive in Delhi to hold rally amid heavy security
Posters were seen in Delhi's Parliament Street today as supporters of Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani appeared in the capital even as heavy security was deployed in the area where a rally was supposed to take place.
The Delhi Police had denied permission to hold the 'yuva hunkar' rally citing law and order ahead of Republic Day celebrations on January 25th.

Police had earlier detained Sachin Bansode, president of Chhatra Bharati and his deputy Sagar Bhalerao and an MLC Kapil.
An FIR was lodged against Mevani for provocative speech in Pune earlier.
The Gujarat Dalit leader had won the Vadgam assembly seat during the Gujarat polls announced last month defeating BJP candidate Vijay Chakravarti by 19,696 votes.
The firebrand Dalit leader had contested as an Independent candidate with Congress support during the polls.
