In an attempt to free the BSP of the blame of dynastic rule, party national president Mayawati on Saturday amended the party’s constitution barring close relatives of party president from holding organisational posts.

In April 2017, Mayawati appointed Anand Kumar party vice-president on condition that he would dedicate himself to the organisation and never contest polls or hold office of power.

Meanwhile, the national executive made several decisions to gear up the party for the challenging electoral battle at the national level.

UP state chief Ramachal Rajbhar has been promoted as the national general secretary and made coordinator of three states.

The new UP BSP president is BSP MLC RS Kushwaha. BSP UP legislature party leader Lalji Verma has been made coordinator of Chhattisgarh and Ashok Siddharth for South India. Vir Singh and Jai Prakash Singh have been appointed national coordinator.
