Stocks closed higher on Thursday, breaking a six-day losing streak as worries surrounding trade war eased.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 318.48 points or 0.96 percent at 33,351.57 at closing and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 88.50 points or 0.87 percent at 10,242.70.

US President Donald Trump’s import tariff plan may spare select countries from much of the impact.

BSE Sensex gained over 200 points in the opening trade, while the NSE’s Nifty 50 rose past the 10,200 level led by PSU bank, pharma and metal stocks.

The Indian rupee weakened marginally against US dollar in the opening trade.
