'Fantastic performance,' Modi tells CWG winners on Mann ki Baat, urges Indians to stay fit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi started his 43rd edition of Mann ki Baat radio programme by congratulating Indian athletes and winners at the Commonwealth Games 2018.

He lauded the athletes for their "fantastic" performance and shared that women athletes at the CWG brought pride and laurels to the country.

The Prime Minister went on speaking about the significance of health and fitness. He shared that his vision of a better India is manifested in a fitter India and mentioned his government's Fit India campaign.

"Yoga is a wonderful way to remain fit. I urge people to take part in the Fit India movement," PM Modi noted.
He also lauded and hailed Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar for his contribution to the Fit India movement.

The Prime Minister then underlined the significance of a clean environment. "Let us contribute towards a clean India," he added.
PM Modi talked about the government's new internship programme under the Swachh Bharat campaign wherein youngsters can participate and learn.

PM Modi stressed on the importance of water conservation stating that the country should learn from the ancestors to conserve water.

"Saving water should be our priority," PM Modi added.
The previous edition of Mann ki Baat saw PM Modi speaking volumes about preventive health care awareness, identifying the need to initiate more work to set up Health Wellness Centres across the country.
