Mandsaur rape: Father of victim turns down compensation, wants accused to be hanged

The father of the rape victim of 8-year-old Mandsaur rape victim's father on Sunday turned down the compensation from the Madhya Pradesh government and said that he wants the accused to be hanged,  

''I do not want any compensation. I just want the accused to be hanged,'' the father of the 8-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped In Mandsaur, has been quoted as saying as per news agency ANI. 

Earlier Women & Child Development Minister Archana Chitnis said that the state chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had transferred Rs.5,00,000 in her father's account. 

''The chief minister has transferred Rs.5,00,000 in her father's account. Hope police find the accused very soon so that he can be hanged,'' state government will take care of her health and education,'' Chitnis said. 

Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia and several others condemned the incident. 

Scindia on Saturday said that Madhya Pradesh has become the rape capital of the nation. ''Around 5000 rapes take place in the state each year. CM should either give an answer or resign. When's this going to stop,'' Scindia was quoted as saying. 

An eight-year-old girl was abducted from her school in Hafiz Colony in Mandsaur and allegedly gang-raped at her house in Mandsaur three days ago.

She is presently battling for her life in the hospital.

So far, Madhya Pradesh Police has arrested two people in connection with the incident.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday condemned the incident and said the accused should be hanged till death.

Meanwhile, locals in the district have been protesting against the incident, demanding death penalty to the accused.
