West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will meet UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday. The Trinamool Congress chief is expected to meet other political leaders to discuss the anti-BJP rally that will be conducted in Kolkata next year.

Banerjee, on Tuesday, met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh over the National Register of Citizens (NRC) issue. She also held meetings with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar and his daughter MP Supriya Sule, besides other leaders like Yashwant Sinha and Shatrughan Sinha.

Mamata is on a four-day visit to Delhi wherein she aims to reach out to political parties to forge an anti-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) front for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

On Monday, Banerjee lashed out at the central government after nearly 40 lakh people were excluded in the final draft of Assam's NRC report.

The Chief Minister described the NRC move as BJP's vote politics, noting that "ultimately it is Bengal which will suffer". She requested the Home Minister to bring an amendment.
