Maharashtra reports highest single-day rise in coronavirus cases

Maharashtra reported the highest single-day rise in coronavirus cases with 3,607 infections along with 152 deaths taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state to 97,648.

Mumbai reported 1,540 new COVID-19 cases and 97 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total number of coronavirus cases in India's financial capital to 53,985.

Amid the rising number of coronavirus cases, Madhya Pradesh health minister Narottam Mishra said that Bhopal will remain shut for two days in a week - Saturdays and Sundays.

In Telangana, 208 COVID-19 cases were reported including  9 deaths in the past 24 hours taking the total number of cases in the state to 4,320. There have been 165 deaths due to coronavirus in the state.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR) said that only 0.73 per cent of sample population was infected with COVID-19. 

Jharkhand on Friday reported 48 new coronavirus cases taking the total number of cases in the state to 1,599, including 961 active cases.

In an announcement in Delhi, Jama Masjid's Shahi Imam, Syed Ahmed Bukhari said that no congregational prayers will be performed at the mosque till June 30 due to the coronavirus pandemic..
