Maharashtra on Thursday reported 2,345 new coronavirus cases and 64 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The total number of coronavirus cases in Maharashtra now stands at 41,642 with the death toll surging to 1,454.

Amid the crisis, Maharashtra police announced the death of constable Deepak Nathuram Sawant from Pune who was battling the virus.

In Uttar Pradesh, 360 new coronavirus cases were reported with 2,130 active cases and 127 deaths. The state government said 3,099 people were cured and discharged.

Gujarat reported 371 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours taking the total number of cases to 12,910. The death toll in the state due to the virus has climbed to  773. 

Coronavirus cases in Chandigarh rose to 216 with 48 active cases, the state administration said today. In Punjab, 23 new coronavirus cases were reported in the state today taking the total number of cases to 2,028: 

Jharkhand's health secretary said that three new coronavirus cases were reported in the state today taking the total number of cases to 293.
