Madhya Pradesh polls: Congress releases fourth list, CM Chouhan's brother-in-law to contest from Waraseoni

Congress on Wednesday released its fourth list of candidates for the upcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly elections. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's brother-in-law Sanjay Singh, who recently joined hands with the Rahul Gandhi-led party, has been given a ticket from Waraseoni, news agency ANI reported. 

Congress, earlier in the day, released its third of candidates for poll-bound Madhya Pradesh. The list included a flurry of new faces and included 13 candidates. 

The party has dropped Pandhurna Member of Legislative Assembly or MLA Jatan Uikey and replaced him with Neelesh Uikey, news agency PTI reported.

Loyalists of Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath and Guna Member of Parliament or MP Jyotiraditya Scindia also found place on the list.

Both Scindia and Nath, the sitting lawmaker from Chhindwara seat, are believed to be the top contenders for the chief minister's post from the Congress.

With the latest list issued Monday night, the Congress has so far announced 184 nominees for the total 230 assembly constituencies.

The announcement for the remaining 46 candidates is awaited, only three days are left for filing nominations.

The BJP-ruled state has a total of 230 assembly seats, the Congress has 57 MLAs in Madhya Pradesh.
