Look forward to first visit at World Economic Forum: PM Modi

As he left for Davos, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on Facebook, a picture of himself on a poster in the Swiss city captioned "India means business."

The poster has been placed outside a hotel in the snow-capped town.

The prime minister also wrote on Facebook that he looked forward to "my first visit to the World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos, at the invitation of India’s good friend and Founder of the WEF, Prof Klaus Schwab." 

"I look forward to my first visit to the World Economic Forum at Davos, at the invitation of India’s good friend and Founder of the WEF, Prof Klaus Schwab. The theme of the Forum, “Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World” is both thoughtful and apt.

The existing and emerging challenges to the contemporary international system and global governance architecture deserve serious attention of leaders, governments, policy makers, corporates and civil societies around the world.

In recent years, India’s engagement with the outside world has become truly and effectively multi-dimensional covering the political, economic, people to people, security and other spheres," read PM Modi's Facebook post.

PM Modi is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on Tuesday. 

PM Modi will also hold bilateral talks with the President of Swiss Confederation, Alain Berset, besides holding a series of meetings with business leaders and addressing the international business council.

The prime minister wrote on Twitter yesterday that he looked forward "to sharing my vision for India’s future engagement with the international community." He also wrote that he was confident that the bilateral meetings would be "fruitful". 

PM Modi will be the first Indian Prime Minister to participate in the World Economic Forum in two decades after HD Deve Gowda who visited Davos in 1997.
