"If we had 113 seats, we would have changed the fate of this state. That did not happen. I expected the MLAs to come to my side. We will win all 28 Lok Sabha seats, that I assure the people. In the next assembly elections, we will win 150 seats. I will tour the state after this session. I will bring the party to power on my own. MLAs are fearful and scared. The JD(S) and Congress are harassing them. Even without power, I fight and live for the people. The Congress has subverted democracy. I am off to the Governor's house. I now give my resignation to the people of Karnataka," says BS Yeddyurappa.

In line with a Supreme Court order, a the BS Yeddyurappa-led BJP government faces a floor test in the Karnataka assembly today.

In the May 12 polls, the BJP emerged as the single largest party with 104 members, while Congress secured 78, the JD(S) 37 and others three.

The BJP insists it should stake claim to form the government by virtue of being the single largest party while the Congress, which has struck a post-poll alliance with the JD(S), says they have 117 seats, six more than the half-way mark of 111.

The floor test will take place at 4 pm today. The Supreme Court has also said that oath should be administered to all MLAs (Members of Legislative Assembly) before the floor test.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of India today turned down a plea by the Congress and the JD(S) challenging Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala's decision to appoint KG Bopaiah as the pro-tem Speaker. The court, however, allowed a live telecast of the trust vote today to ensure transparency in proceedings.

Here are the live updates.
