The Delhi government has cancelled the event which was scheduled to mark the four years of AAP governance in the national capital following the fire accident in Karol Bagh, Central Delhi which claimed the lives of at least 17 people on Tuesday.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia ordered the cancellation of the event.

"The deputy chief minister has ordered cancellation of today's event owing to the Karol Bagh hotel fire incident," a senior government official said. 

Bollywood singer-composer Vishal Dadlani was to perform during the event to be held at Talkatora Stadium.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the kin of the deceased. 

A massive fire broke out at Hotel Arpit Palace in Karol Bagh, in central Delhi, early on Tuesday morning.

It took the fire tenders more than four hours to douse the fire.
