Maharashtra government has submitted suggestions of names for the inquiry committee for the Kamala mills fire case. The names have been submitted to the Bombay High Court in a sealed cover. The High Court is expected to announce the name of the committee on March 19.

Last month, the Bombay High Court ordered setting up of a three-member committee to investigate the Kamala mills fire case. The committee is led by a retired high court judge.

Observing that such incidents should not repeat in the future, the high court said that setting up of a judicial committee was the domain of the state government.

A deadly fire tore through Kamala Mills complex on December 28 which claimed 14 lives. The majority of those killed were women attending a birthday party at a rooftop restaurant.
