J&K: Pakistan violates ceasefire along LoC in Poonch

Pakistan troops on Friday violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, news agency ANI reported.

According to the report, Pakistan initiated unprovoked firing with small arms and shelling with mortars in Mankote, Krishna Ghati Sector.

India army is retaliating. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far.

On July 8, Pakistan Rangers violated the ceasefire along the LoC in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district. A civilian was injured in the cross-firing.

Meanwhile, two Army personnel were injured in Pakistani firing in the district's Romali Dhara area of Nowshera sector last week.

Pakistan violated the ceasefire 1,248 times along the LoC in the last six months, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh informed Rajya Sabh earlier this month.

Giving details of the CFVs, the minister said - 203 ceasefire violations took place in January, 215 in February, 267 in March, 234 in April, 221 in May and 108 in June.
