J&K: Pak troops open fire along LoC, 1 BSF soldier killed

Pakistan Rangers opened fire on a Border Security Force(BSF) patrol party today along the Line of Control(LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district.

A BSF soldier was killed in the firing. 

"Today, at about 0930 hours, Pakistani Rangers suddenly fired on a BSF patrol in Samba sector", a senior BSF officer told PTI. 

Earlier in the day, at least five personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were injured after terrorists attacked one of their vehicles in Mominabad, in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district. 

Three soldiers received bullet injuries while two others were injured after getting hit by broken glass panes of the vehicle.

On Monday, Pakistan's General of Military Operations (DGMO) had spoken to his Indian counterpart on cross-border firing.

During the phone call, Pak DGMO alleged that Indian security forces had resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control. 

Replying to Pak DGMO, Lt Gen Bhatt said Indian troops had resorted to retaliatory fire in response to "unabated support given by the Pak Army" to "armed terrorists" who infiltrate across the border and target Indian Army posts.

During the conversation with the Pak DGMO, Bhatt clarified that Indian Army maintains "does not target civilians".

Pakistan troops had opened fire on several occasions along the LoC in J&K's Poonch and other areas last month.

There has been heavy loss of life and property in recent months because of the increased cross-border shelling.
