J&K: 1 militant, 3 'accomplices' killed in firing in Shopian
A militant was among the four people who were killed in a firing incident in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday night, police said.
The incident took place around 8 pm when ultras fired on a security forces mobile vehicle check post near Pohan area.
The militant was identified as one Shahid Ahmad Dar and a weapon was also recovered from him, the Indian Army said in a statement. Besides the militant, bodies of three other people who were killed in the gunfire were also found.
The Army said that the three people killed were over ground workers/accomplices in the car, who were accompanying the terrorists.
"Police has reached the spot and started legal formalities," the statement added.
Meanwhile, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the district after the incident and police officials were also carrying out legal formalities.
