Story highlights

Giving a clarification over mining baron G Janardhana Reddy's comments in support of BJP candidate Sriramulu, the BJP chief ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa said on Sunday that the former minister was campaigning for his friend B Sriramulu and not BJP.

"Janardhan Reddy has not been included in the electioneering list of the BJP. He is campaigning not for the party, but for his friend Sriramulu" he said.

He also assured that his party will win the state elections and he will take oath as Chief Minister with the blessings of PM Modi.

A day before, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee had sent a letter to the Election Commission against Janardhan Reddy, former Minister of the state government for his comments.

In its complaint, the Congress had sought an action against Reddy.

The letter filed by the Congress committee said that while campaigning for a BJP candidate Sriramulu, Reddy has said that the BJP had fielded the candidate to kill Siddharavana.

The complaint quoted Reddy as saying, "Sriramulu has been fielded by BJP to kill Siddharavana". Siddharavana which means " demon" reportedly referred to Siddaramaiah.

Sriramulu is contesting against Siddaramaiah from Badami constituency.

Reddy is out on bail in illegal mining case.

BJP has fielded Reddy's brothers, G Somashekhara Reddy in Ballari city and his elder brother and former Ballari Lok Sabha member G Karunakara Reddy in Harappanahalli in Davanagere district.
