Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Monday met with Jammu and Kashmir Congress leaders at his residence in New Delhi and discussed the upcoming Assembly elections, news agency ANI reported. 

Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ambika Soni were present during the meeting along with other state leaders and Lok Sabha candidates.

The leaders discussed party's poll debacle in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. This was the first time when the state unit was meeting with the party president after the general elections.

Meanwhile, the Congress Working Committee is expected to meet this week to discuss Rahul Gandhi's resignation and deliberate on the future of the party. 

Gandhi, earlier in the day, also met Congress chief ministers who impressed upon him to continue as the president of the party.
