Sources in the Army said that the captain rank officer was killed when a terrorist opened fire at him while three others including a major rank officer suffered injuries.

An Indian Army officer was killed in close combat with the hiding terrorists in south Kashmir's Anantnag district during an encounter which erupted Monday morning. A terrorist has also been killed, arms and ammunition have been recovered. 

Sources in the Army said that the Major rank officer was killed when a terrorist opened fire at him while three others including a major rank officer suffered injuries. All of them are being treated at the Army's 92 base hospital. 

Earlier in the morning, based on specific information about the presence of terrorists at Bidoora village in Achabal area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district, a joint team of Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF launched an operation. 

Sources in the police have said that two bodies were spotted near the encounter spot during the search operation but firing was still going on when the last report came in.
