Jairam Thakur sworn in as 14th chief minister of Himachal Pradesh
Five-time legislator Jairam Thakur on Wednesday was sworn-in as the 14th chief minister of Himachal Pradesh after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) swept to a comfortable win in the recently concluded assembly election.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah were also present at the oath-taking ceremony in Shimla.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other senior party leader were also in attendance.
Thakur, a leader from Mandi, was chosen over Jagat Prakash Nadda to lead the BJP's lawmakers in the Himachal Pradesh assembly on Sunday.
The 52-year-old leader edged past party stalwarts in the race to the top office and became the first leader from the politically-significant Mandi region to helm the hill state.
BJP's first declared chief ministerial candidate Prem Kumar Dhumal lots to his erstwhile aide in the recent elections.
The BJP ousted the Congress from the Himalayan state after clinching 44 of the 68 seats.
