Situation would have been different had BJP won just 250 seats, says Jagan Reddy after meeting Modi

''Situation would have been different had the BJP won just 250 seats, we would have then supported the BJP only after they signed the Special Category Status (SCS) document,'' said YSR Congress Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister-designate Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Sunday after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

''If the BJP would've been limited to 250 seats, we wouldn't have had to depend so much on the central government. But now, they don't need us. We did what we could do and told him (PM) of our situation,'' he added.

Reddy met Modi and BJP president Amit Shah, and sought their support for state's key demands including SCS.

Jagan said that his government will be revolutionary and added that he has nothing against  Chandrababu Naidu.

''One thing I can tell you I have nothing against Chandrababu Naidu. My duty is that of a custodian. Today I'm going to promise you our government will be revolutionary. Within six months to one year, I'll make sure this government stands as exemplary to the country,''

Jagan said that every time he meets Modi, he will remind him about the SCS and hoped things will change over the course of time. 

''Today was the first meeting with PM. God willing I'll probably meet him maybe 30, 40, 50 times over these 5 years. I'll make it a point to remind him every time, of Special Category Status...As long as we keep reminding, things will change,'' he noted.

The SCS is the major demand of Reddy as during election campaign he repeatedly said he would support the party at the national level which promises SCS to Andhra Pradesh. 

The YSRCP stormed to power with a landslide victory winning 151 out of 175 seats in the state Assembly and 22 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha elections.
