At present, Chidamabaram is in judicial custody in Tihar Jail.

A Delhi court on Monday has rejected the regular bail petition of Congress leader P Chidambaram in the INX media case.

Justice Suresh Kumar Kait dismissed his plea observing that the investigation is in the advanced stage and that the accused might influence the witnesses.

At present, Chidamabaram is in judicial custody in Tihar Jail.

Earlier, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) opposed Chidambaram's bail plea.

In a reply filed on the Chidambaram' petition, the CBI said that granting bail in "such cases will set a wrong precedent" in the corruption cases.

Delhi court on September 19 extended Chidambaram's judicial custody till October 3.

Chidambaram was arrested by the CBI on August 21. He is facing a probe by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for alleged irregularities in granting the clearance to INX Media to the tune of Rs 305 crore in 2007.
