International Women's Day: Indian Railways deploys all women ticket checking staff

To mark the International Women's Day on Thursday, Indian railways deployed all women ticket checking staff on Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express.

Deccan Queen Express trains that run between Mumbai and Pune will also have permanent all-women staff from Thursday.

For the past couple of weeks, Indians Railways have introduced all women staff stations. 

The Stations that have already been handed over to all women includes Matunga Road station in Mumbai, Ajni railway station in Nagpur, Chandragiri near Tirupati and Gandhinagar in Jaipur has already been handed over to all women staff.

Job duties from station masters to guards and cleaners all are being handled by women.

According to reports, the initiative is taken after the directions of Central Railway General Manager to have at least one women-only station in each division.

Similarly, Air India is also observing the day by operating flights with an all-women crew to New York, Frankfurt, Singapore and various other destinations.
